This Privacy Policy describes how Apptriangle (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information in connection with the ScanMe mobile application (“ScanMe” or the “App”). ScanMe is designed as an offline-first document scanner: your scans stay on your device, and we do not require an account or cloud upload to use the core features of the App.
1. Who we are
ScanMe is developed and published by Apptriangle. For privacy questions, contact us at info@apptriangle.com.
2. Summary
- We do not require you to create an account to use ScanMe.
- Scanned documents and photos you import are stored locally on your device.
- We do not operate a ScanMe cloud service that uploads your documents for storage.
- Sharing a file uses your device’s system share sheet; destinations you choose are outside our control.
- On Android, document scanning may use Google’s on-device ML Kit Document Scanner (via Google Play services).
- On iOS, document scanning may use Apple’s on-device VisionKit document camera.
3. Information the App processes
Depending on how you use ScanMe, the App may process:
- Camera images and scanned pages — when you scan a document, the App captures page images to create your document.
- Photos from your gallery — when you use “Images to PDF” (or similar), you choose photos that the App imports to build a PDF or image export.
- Document files you create — including originals, filtered (for example black-and-white) pages, thumbnails, PDF exports, and JPEG exports stored in the App’s local storage on your device.
- Document metadata you provide — such as document names you set, page order, rotation, and filter choices.
- App preferences — for example theme mode (light, dark, or system), stored locally on your device (for example via on-device preferences storage).
ScanMe may apply a small Apptriangle watermark to previews and exports as part of the product experience. That processing happens on your device.
4. How we use information
On-device data is used only to provide App features, including to:
- Capture, crop, enhance, reorder, and review document pages
- Convert images into multi-page PDFs or JPEG sets
- Compress files for practical sharing and storage size
- List, rename, open, share, and delete documents you save locally
- Remember your display preferences (such as theme)
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your scanned documents for advertising profiling.
5. Data storage and transfers
Local storage: Your documents and related files are stored on your device in the App’s sandboxed storage. If you uninstall ScanMe or clear the App’s data, locally stored documents may be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered by us.
No ScanMe account cloud: ScanMe’s design does not upload your documents to an Apptriangle server for backup or sync. If that changes in a future version, we will update this Policy and, where required, ask for appropriate consent or provide in-app notice.
Sharing: If you tap Share, your device’s operating system share interface lets you send files to apps or services you choose (email, messaging, cloud drives, etc.). Those third parties process data under their own privacy policies. We do not control what happens after you share a file off-device.
6. Permissions
ScanMe may request access to:
- Camera — to scan documents. Used only when you start a scan.
- Photos / media library — to import images for PDF or image conversion when you choose that flow.
You can deny or revoke permissions in your device settings. Some features will not work without the related permission.
7. On-device scanning technologies (third-party platforms)
Android: Document scanning may use Google ML Kit’s Document Scanner experience delivered through Google Play services. The scanning user interface and related on-device processing are provided by Google’s libraries. See Google’s documentation and privacy materials for Play services / ML Kit for platform-level details.
iOS: Document scanning may use Apple VisionKit’s document camera. Processing occurs in the Apple-provided on-device UI. See Apple’s privacy information for iOS system frameworks.
Apptriangle does not receive your scanned page images from these system/SDK flows for Apptriangle cloud storage as part of the current ScanMe offline design.
8. Children
ScanMe is a general productivity tool and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through a channel we control (for example email support), contact info@apptriangle.com and we will take appropriate steps.
9. Data retention
Documents remain on your device until you delete them in the App, clear App data, or uninstall the App. We do not retain copies of your scans on Apptriangle servers under the current offline product model.
If you email support, we may retain the contents of your message and our reply for as long as needed to provide support and for legitimate business record-keeping, then delete or archive according to our internal practices.
10. Security
We rely on your device’s platform security (app sandboxing and OS access controls) to protect local files. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Protect your device with a passcode, biometrics, and OS updates. Anyone with access to your unlocked device may be able to open documents stored in ScanMe.
11. Your choices
- Delete individual documents in the App.
- Revoke camera or photo permissions in system settings.
- Uninstall the App to remove the App and its local data (subject to OS behavior).
- Contact us to ask questions about this Policy.
12. International users
ScanMe processes data on your device wherever you use it. If you contact us by email, your message may be processed on systems used to operate our support inbox. If you are in the EEA, UK, or another region with specific privacy rights, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of personal data we hold about you in our support communications. Contact info@apptriangle.com to make a request. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App after changes means you acknowledge the updated Policy. For material changes that affect how we handle personal data, we will provide additional notice where required by law.
